The economic courts in the Republic of Belarus are judicial authorities administering justice by means of economic and administrative court proceedings.
Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs have a right to address the economic court for protection of their infringed or contestable rights and legitimate interests. Organizations, which are not legal entities, and citizens are entitled to the same in the cases provided for by legislative acts.
Objectives of the economic courts:
to protect personal rights and freedoms, socio-economic and political rights of the citizens, the constitutional system of the Republic of Belarus, state and public interests, rights of the organizations and individual entrepreneurs guaranteed by the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and other legislative acts;
to ensure proper enforcement of legislation in administration of justice;
to contribute to strengthening of the rule of law and to prevention of wrong.
A uniform system of the economic courts, built on the principle of territoriality and specialization, prevails in the Republic of Belarus.
The system of economic courts is composed of:
economic courts of the regions (of the city of Minsk);
the Supreme Economic Court of the Republic of Belarus.

Six economic courts of the regions and the economic court of the city of Minsk) function in the Republic of Belarus.
The economic court of a region (of the city of Minsk) work consisting of:
judicial board for consideration of cases as a court of primary jurisdiction;
court of appellate jurisdiction;
bankruptcy judicial board;
tax disputes judicial board;
administrative cases judicial board.
